In August of 1999, my son, Erik, was diagnosed
with leukemia. Shortly afterwards, the Make-A-Wish Foundation
contacted me and asked if there was a wish they could
grant for him. He had just started college at the Motorcycle
Mechanic’s Institute in Orlando. His wish was to have
a full set of special motorcycle tools. On November 6,
his 18th birthday, two Make-A-Wish volunteers came to
our house and presented Erik with more than $3000 worth
of Stanley motorcycle tools, balloons and a birthday cake.
It was an incredible day for us all, a day my daughter
Julia and I will never forget. The Make-A-Wish Foundation
has earned its place in our hearts as well as our eternal
support. Scroll down to learn how we are giving back.
